Appio IRPINIA CAMPI TAURASINI DOC 2018

In the middle Calore Valley, between Luogosano and Sant'Angelo all'Esca, the Aglianico grape has always been cultivated. From its red grapes, carefully hand-selected, vinified, and aged in ceramic amphorae, Appio is born. Cavalier Angelo Pepe chose this name to pay homage to the Appian Way, which connected ancient Rome to modern-day Brindisi. The queen of roads, built by Appius Claudius Caecus starting in the mid-3rd century BC, crossed the ancient Roman colony of Aeclanum, in Irpinia, allowing the transit of goods, people and the fusion of cultures.
